Git Attach in Sub/Child Domain

Would it be possible to attach a git repo to a subdomain/child website?
I have a website dev.example.com, a child website joedev.example.com within dev.example.com, and would like to attach a git repo to joedev.example.com. (I intend to access the website via dev.example.com/joedev for serving previews of websites).

Currently the Git feature is listed in the Application Installer of the child website but when I try to use it I’m met with an error

“Websites matching query does not exist.”

After updated to 1.9.5E I can see the new and improved Git Manage menu but now the child domain/website has no access to Git Manage. The parent/primary website can only Git Manage itself and not any child directories.

Dev has added this to a list of issues.
