Email stopped working correctly after recent updates

Since the several previous updates, all the email notifications (client registration, new order) of all my Opencart websites hosted using CyberPanel stopped working correctly.
The admin side can receive the emails sometimes, but the client side stopped receiving any emails from the website.

I’ve tried both Mail and SMTP protocols with all the different settings,
• Port 465 with SSL/TLS
• Port 587 with STARTTLS
• Port 25 with no encryption
none helped.

However I can send and receive emails using the snappymail webmail.

It seems the Mailer Type in Server Mail Configuration page can’t be saved. As shown in the screenshot, no matter how many times I select and save the configuration, although it shows a “Success” notification, if I refresh or revisit the page, the setting will be gone and defaults back to empty, every time…
