I currently have my site running on another server. I created a new vps and set up the domain ww2.domain.com … When completing the migration of my site I would like to change the site name to domain.com
How should I proceed?

It is not possible to change the domain of existing website, on your new VPS you can use the same domain.
After completing the transfer you can use /etc/host` on linux to temporary point IP of your website to new VPS and check if transfer went sucessfull.
