Greetings everyone. Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but have done some searches and not found anyone in my situation.
I have a Database class at university this semester and have two options for using Microsoft SQL. I have a MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM which I can use SQL in a Windows VM or use it installed on my Ubuntu ThinkPad X220 with 8GB RAM.
What do you guys think will give me the least headaches/best performance?
It will work easy in you MacBook Pro under a virtual machine, you can install it under any windows server from 2008R2 to any setting a 4GB of ram to VM to work smooth.

I loved Database subject in college. In information systems, databases provide systematic, well-prepared information for effective management.

Hi, I took a university CS-major database course online last month. The topics included: SQL query language, relational algebra, data security, database software development, client/server environments and normalization.
A good source for a good start:
Gary Boetticher - UHCL Graduate Database Course
Thanks for the detailed report and i love it.
