Error while installing (unable to detect operating system)

I am running Ubuntu 18.04 on a virtual machine on Google Compute engine and each time i try to install Cyberpanel, I get an error saying “unable to detect you operating system”, at which point the installation is aborted.

Does anyone know how to overcome this hurdle?
